Reiki (pronounced ray-key) comes from the Japanese words Rei, which means higher knowledge or spiritual consciousness and Ki (Chi) which means life force energy. Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes natural healing and peace through removing blockages and balancing the core energy fields which can result in feeling stuck mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually as well as illness, pain, and weakness when blocked. Reiki works by taking the life force energy to balance and strengthen the flow of energy in your body through the flow of energy in the practitioner’s hand.
Clients come in for Reiki to receive relaxation, spiritual awareness and/or guidance, relief from physical pain, activate healing for depression, anxiety and trauma responses, grief/loss, improved sleep, and promote self healing. Some clients come to receive Reiki to balance their chakras. Learn more about chakras below.
Psychotherapeutic Reiki is a technique that blends Eastern energy concepts and Western psychological perspectives. In Psychotherapeutic Reiki therapeutic client and healer facilitate talk therapy to explore the blockage by exploring memories, emotions, and thoughts that are uncovered and unresolved to be addressed so healing can occur. As an experiential therapist the use of props are also used for exploration. This technique utilizes the Reiki energy, mindfulness practice, cognitive psychotherapy, experiential therapy, and stress management.
Reiki for Grief is reiki or energy healing that helps the grieving heart find peace. Reiki for grief provides one with a self care tool to heal to keep the light flowing which helps one to work through the grief process and heal. Reiki for grief allows one to hold space for you, with you. It is not a cure all.
Chakra Balancing is using energy healing and other techniques to balance the energy system called Chakras. Chakras are the energy centers of our body. There are seven main chakras within our body. Chakras, wheel or disk in Sanskrit, spin to allow free flow of energy or Prana throughout our body to harmonize the mind, body, soul, and spirit and keeps us alive, vibrant, and healthy. When the energy system is blocked it leads to us not feeling vibrant or healthy. There are different techniques to use to balance the chakra energy system. In my practice we use Reiki energy healing, guided meditation, experiential exercises, and referrals to other resources when the ailments are beyond our scope of practice.
